There’s a pretty long list of things that we can allow to rob us of joy. One of the most common joy robbers is confusion about God’s plan. We face hardships in various forms all the time. It is challenging for us when we do not know what God is doing or why He allows our circumstances. The disciples were right in the middle of confusion over Christ’s words that He would leave them and yet in a little while He would see them. In the midst of the confusion, Jesus made a promise to them. He promised He would turn their sorrow into joy. This promise was sealed by His resurrection and by the sealing work of the Holy Spirit. This certain promise should result in active dependence on the Lord in prayer which results in seeing Jesus and being filled with His gift of “un-take-able” joy. | John 16:16-24
